Newcastle United has inked a fresh agreement with offshore betting company Fun88 that will encompass the Asian market.
Fun88 will back Newcastle United’s growth in Asia under the new multi-year pact. This will involve promotional campaigns, official club gear, and exclusive experiences for supporters.
“The team is thankful for Fun88’s backing over the last six seasons and anticipates continuing the partnership for several more seasons,” Newcastle United stated in a release.
The Asian betting and sports wagering operator has been the club’s main sponsor since the 2017-18 campaign, with the brand’s logo prominently displayed on the front of the team’s uniforms.
While the firm receives most of its traffic from the Asian market, Fun88 has secured advertising licenses in the UK through a white-label permit from TGP Holdings.
In April, the Premier League consented to end betting sponsorship on the front of matchday jerseys. The conclusion of betting sponsorship will take effect at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Even though the accord could persist until that date, Newcastle has reportedly terminated its jersey deal with Fun88 prematurely, and the club will reveal a new Middle Eastern jersey sponsor later this week.
The English Premier League, prior to issuing a report on betting regulations, has made the decision to cease placing gambling firm logos on their team jerseys. This is a primary method they are employing to restrict gambling promotion.
